you can be sloppy in your 9-5, but not as a solopreneur

I love it.

Systems and being organized.

It’s a critical component of sales, ESPECIALLY digital sales.

You see, in my 9-5, sales reps can get away with being sloppy.

Why?

Because you have a team of people that help keep things in order.

  • You have a technical resource can help architect the best solution.
  • You have a team of technical writers, attorneys etc who can help clean up verbiage in a document to solidify the deal.
  • You have a project management resource that manages project implementation, risks, timelines, deliverables etc.

As a solopreneur?

You’re responsible for all of it.

You can always delegate stuff, but ultimately you’re responsible for it.

When you’re building your solo business, think about your client’s end goal and how you’ll get them there, IN AN ORGANIZED WAY.

Otherwise, expect confused prospects during the digital sales process.

And confused prospects DON’T buy.

So first, clarify the end goal for your customer (me: I want my clients to make their first digital dollar and/or grow their online business).

Then ideate how you’ll get your customer to that end goal.

(me: it will happen by clarifying their offer, attracting an audience, building an email list, creating a landing page, providing services, getting testimonials, then building a digital product for leverage).

So for me, the end goal is: having a portfolio of clients that are now making money online because they have consulted with me and/or bought my accelerators.

Case Study: I’m currently helping a client who wants to 5x his current 100k ARR business.

His prospects’ email addresses everywhere, he doesn’t have a welcome email sequence and and currently doesn’t use use ConvertKit’s Creator Network to continue to grow his email list.

I’m helping him fix this so he will get more prospects to the top of funnel and convert them into paying members (anywhere from $150 - $450/mo).

To make the sales process sustainable, organized and systematic, here’s what I’m doing:

  1. I’m building 3-4 lead magnets that will then be auto-tagged in ConvertKit based on the lead magnet that a prospect chooses.
  2. The prospect will get a portion of the relevant Solopreneur Accelerator that they’re interested in.
  3. About a week later, the recipient will get an email asking for feedback, consulting help and the link to my more comprehensive paid digital product.

This will enable me to:

  1. See what’s resonating the most with my audience
  2. Allow me to double down on said topic
  3. Help me attract 2-3 additional consulting clients and/or digital product clients.

Best part?

It’ll be mostly automated.

I’m going to test this over the next month or so and will share the learnings, failures and successes with you.

All in the name of Demystifying and Acelerating Solopreneur Sales.
