The traditional path is broken - here’s what to do instead

Been thinking a lot about how the traditional confines of society really want to keep you controlled and organized.

It's almost like you get shamed and questioned when you don't fall into a neat little box that society wants you to do.

Go to school, memorize stuff, get a "good" job, buy a house, settle down, work for 40 years, have a family, retire, die.

Looking across that entire list, here's the benefits I see in each:

1. Go to school: learn how to deal with adversity, learn to communicate, play sports.
2. Memorize stuff: trains cognitive abilities
3. get a "good" job: you stay off the streets and can contribute to society in a marginal fashion
4. buy a house: I enjoy having a steady place to be
5. settle down: always good to get your stuff together and not be wild
6. work for 40 years: a steady paycheck
7. have a family: by far the best of all items so far
8. retire: not working anymore
9. die: no more pain, I guess? ha

Ok, now let's do the drawbacks of each:

1. Go to school: wasting time when AI can better prepare us for the future
2. Memorize stuff: waste of time, no need to memorize things when we have them at our fingertips
3. get a "good" job: boring, uninspiring, helping someone else get rich
4. buy a house: tons of work, always something going wrong, expensive
5. settle down: why? go explore!
6. work for 40 years: why? is working the point of life?
7. have a family: challenging, expensive, takes a lot of time and effort
8. retire: lose your driving force
9. die: well, you're dead

So if I objectively look at the pros and cons, that I literally just spit off the dome...the traditional path sucks.

That's why I am so passionate about building a life off the traditional path, without being an off-the-grid-tinfoil-hat-hippie.

I like modern conveniences, but I don't like someone controlling my time and path.

I just don't.

I think I can do things better and build a life for myself in a way that is way more fulfilling than what is prescribed to me.

This is why I want to encourage you to build a 1 person business.

There's never been a better time and the playing field has been leveled.
