The mistake that kills great client experiences

Good afternoon!

It’s been a short but action-packed week. I spent Monday through Wednesday in NYC with the family. I love that city - the energy, endless things to do, and maybe best of all, no driving for three days.

Anyway, onward!

Yesterday, I onboarded two new clients in my Microsoft sales pipeline consulting business, and it was a great experience.

When you’re responsible for both sales and delivery, you get to run things the way you want, not how someone else wants. Sure, it’s more responsibility, but being able to ensure sales promises match delivery outcomes is a great feeling.

There’s nothing worse than selling something only for the client experience to fall short. It hurts your reputation and your revenue.

Here are three insights I took away from those onboarding conversations. I’d love to hear if your organization faces similar challenges:

Before I wrap up, a quick clarification from last week’s note. One subscriber asked about an acronym I used:

  • SMC = Small, Medium, and Corporate — Microsoft’s segment for smaller organizations
  • EOU = Enterprise Operating Unit — Microsoft’s larger enterprise segment
  • SMB = Small and Medium Business — typically even smaller than SMC

Have a great Saturday!

If your organization could use help building a consistent, high-quality Microsoft co-sell pipeline, reply to this email and we'll chat.
