the 2 things that most solopreneurs don't know about

Read Time: 5m

Frustrated a bit?

Yeah, we all got peppered with Black Friday and Cyber Monday emails; from big box retailers, to that one random website you don’t remember, to creators.

I think I hit unsubscribe at least 15 times.

We were barraged by all sorts of offers from creators that focused in specific areas:

  • how to get better at writing posts
  • building an audience
  • creating a course, offer etc.

I buy courses like this occasionally…(I picked up Kieran Drew’s High Impact Writing).

But when I zoom out, I see two concepts missing from courses like this:

  1. The goal of all of these items is to generate income.
  2. Solopreneur income happens when specific activities take place in order AND in unison.

So what do I mean by #1?

I see (and love) all of the great specific programs out there to improve writing, create videos, optimize engagement, but what gets lost in the shuffle is…how does this generate income?

So I drew a purdy picture of how my brain thinks about it:

Why is this important?

Well, you didn’t purchase a writing course because you ONLY wanted to get better at writing.

You bought it because you wanted to attract followers, email subscribers and generate income.

Envision your skills as a means to an end.

They serve a purpose, they are not the end goal themself.

Love those skills, but remember they serve a specific purpose to you, which is to generate income and get the freedom you want.

Onto #2:

I believe that certain solopreneur activities have to:

  1. happen first
  2. be achieved TOGETHER

before you start generating income.

It’s not enough only to attract followers.

It’s not enough to only create an offer.

It’s not enough to only network.

It’s not enough to only identify your audience’s problems.

It’s not enough to write good emails.

To achieve sustainable solopreneur revenue, these need to be solved in (roughly) a prioritized order and TOGETHER.

The solopreneur income machine has to be built in a methodical fashion and the moving parts need to work in unison.

And I think that’s what most solopreneurs get wrong.

They do things out of order and don’t make the pieces work in unison.

If you feel like you’ve got solid enough skills but aren’t sure how you plan to monetize, or if you feel like the pieces of your solopreneur engine aren’t working in unison, book a 1:1 call with me and we’ll work through it together:
