solo emails are so much more fun that corporate ones

You may think email is old school...and it kinda is. Email was initially created in 1971 by Ray Tomlinson...hard to believe it's been around that long. 50+ years of good ol' emails I read an article just now about the explosion of email, America Online etc...a nice brain timetravel. (if you remember getting AOL discs in your mailbox, it's time to schedule your colonoscopy btw) But one thing I always think about is: simplicity rules. Emails are the most primitive, basic way of communicating to one another on the internet. And that's what makes it critical...when other forms of internet communication (i.e. social media) are controlled by large organizations and for-profit stakeholders, it can make things, well, a bit interesting. You have to play to the algorithm etc. But here, in email world, it's all about creating helpful and entertaining information to build a relationship. I don't have to worry about an algorithm de-boosting my email. Of course, there's email deliverability things you need to consider, but you get the point. So that's why it's critical to funnel your social media traffic to an email list. If you're having challenges with this I'm considering running a 30m session next week to help you grow your email list.
