Miss me with that consultant speak

Co-Sell Field Notes: Notes from a $68M Microsoft Services Seller

You've all experienced it (from someone else)...or maybe you've been this person:

This is your reminder that when you speak consultant speak and start using buzzwords, it immediately signals to your recipient that you don't know what you're talking about.

Not good.

You can see Microsoft sellers tuning you out.

Prospects starting to multi-task when you have them on a call.

Here's how I avoid being that person:

  1. I research any buzzword prior to the call (I'm still learning what AI really is) - simple and effective.
  2. I define my exact goal before any call (helps me stay on course and not stray in the conversation)
  3. I write out a conversation flow (this helps structure the conversation so it has a better chance to arrive at the goal + I usually identify 1-2 things that I don't understand fully, which takes me back to #1)

Try these before your next Microsoft or client meeting and let me know if it helps.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Co-Selling!
