How I made my first $1k as a part-time solopreneur
|
Read Time: 4m I just crossed $1k in earnings as a solopreneur and I'm going to tell you how I did it in a few simple steps. Before diving right in, I wanted to share this stat from Kieran Drew's amazing article he just dropped: This stat shows me to not be ashamed of earning $1k as a part-time solopreneur. I'm a 9-5 tech sales director, have 4 kids, there's currently a messy house that needs to be tended to outside of my office...yet, I've made it into the 32% minority. You'd never think this stat is true because all you hear is "$10k/mo is EASY BRO!!" on X. The data doesn't lie: most of these people are lying to your face and trying to take your money. So how did I ACTUALLY make my first $1k? It wasn't by listening to the Twitter bros. I wrote content about what was working for me + what I was interested in, for example, this post:
Later that day, I got this DM: I then offered to set up a call to discuss his challenges IN DETAIL. I found 4-5 pain points that were....get ready....holding him back from $100k annual recurring revenue to $500k annual recurring revenue. Bingo! I found the CORE BUSINESS PROBLEM. Yes, he was having technology and time problems, but most importantly, he wanted to scale his business 5X. So when I put together a simple proposal for him, everything I said I could help with....I TIED IT BACK to that business goal. After securing that work and over-delivering, I got a nice testimonial from him: As part of this project, I had to work with a web developer that Nate used for his website...and over the course of our emails and calls, he expressed interest in email marketing to grow HIS business as well. I'm now working with him to set up email sequences for collecting testimonials, client feedback and upselling to his existing client base...again, all geared towards growing his business. That's it. Now, there's some nuance between all this that I won't go into because this email would be way too long. But bottom line is:
If you need help in any part of this process, spending 30 minutes with me can be the difference between another $0 week and your first client. Cheers to Accelerating your Solopreneur Sales! -Matt Barron When you're ready, there's several ways I can help you:
