building a solo business while having a 9-5
|
It's tough having a 9-5 and starting your solo business. One of the recent DM convos I had was around:
Two REALLY important things that I've thought a lot about and hear from others too. Here's my thoughts on #1: Use a mixture of your experience, skillsets and personality and apply it to a market that will pay for it. It requires some introspection and thinking. And most importantly, MAKE SURE YOU'RE INTERESTED in what you come up with. My 9-5 is tech sales, so I spent a couple months building a course how to get into tech sales...all to realize that I'm not interested in helping people get into tech sales...I'm interested in helping people get Time Freedom through Solopreneurship. Crap - time wasted. So I scratched that, changed directions, and now have clients and sold digital products. โTo expedite this part of your journey, use my Solopreneur Foundation Accelerator here.โ Here's my thoughts on #2: If I posted my X content on LinkedIn, I guarantee I'd triple my income. However, my LinkedIn is crawling with my colleagues and current clients. Even if I could do it, I'm not sure I would. But that doesn't mean you can't post on LinkedIn and build a following. So, what I'm doing is posting about things that are related to my 9-5 to help build my audience. Once my solo income is at a level I'm comfortable with, I'll pull the plug on the 9-5 and start posting content associated with my solo business. YOU are the niche...post about things you care about (I do care about my 9-5), you can use it to your advantage later. That's all for today, I hope this helps. -Matt Barron When you're ready, there's several ways I can help you:
